Lecture : Commerce, Quarantine and the Third Plague Pandemic: 1890-1926
Guest Speaker : Mark Harrison (Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, Oxford University)

Professor Harrison emphasizes mainly three points through the lecture: Maritime transmission of disease is certainly an important facet of epidemiological history; We have to focus on the problems created by rapid and unplanned development in Asia in the first half of the 20th century; The response to the contagious disease including sanitary initiatives and anti-malaria projects was compromised by the mutual suspicion and contested interests between the persons and institutions concerned.
