On January 8, 2011, Institute for International Maritime Affairs (Director : Jeong, Mun Soo) of Korea Maritime University and the University of the Philippines (President : Sergio Cao) signed an academic exchange agreement at the Gilliman Campus of the University of the Philippines. Through this academic exchange agreement, both universities and research institutes have decided to carry out various academic exchanges necessary to jointly promote the study of history and culture in sea port city.

Kansai University East-West Research Institute

On May 31, 2011, Institute of international Maritime Affairs(Director : Jeong, Moon Soo)  of the Korea Maritime University signed an academic exchange agreement with the East-West Research Institute of Kansai University (Director Matsuura Akira). Through these academic exchange agreements, the two institutes have decided to promote academic research and promote cultural exchange between Korea and Japan.
