Theme: "Culture as the way of life - seven theses"
Speaker: Moon, Gwanghun(Research Prof. of Institute of Asian Affairs, Korea University)
Report: Prof. Moon tried to explain the culture on the ground of theories and perspectives of Foucault and Uh-Chang Kim and to approach the culture through 7 theses or definitions, which Prof. Moon himself instituted. In the process he emphasized above all that the culture had to be a result from the self-reflective and critical thinking. In relation to the agenda of our project, he asserted that a desirable 'Cultural Interactions Studies' had to aim at universality and autonomy, which embraced openness, pliableness, and otherness.
