Theme: Cultural Exchange by the Ocean Sea Lane: A Socio-economic Equation of the Ancient Arab-China-Silla World

Speaker: Lee Hee-Soo (Professor of Cultural Anthropology, Hanyang University)

The main topics of this colloquium were two. Firstly, professor Lee has demonstrated the cultural and trading relationship between the Arab world and Korea from the Silla era to the early Chosun on the basis of Arabian raw materials. Secondly, he has shown that how the Arabic culture has left a tangible legacy in our society nowadays. At the end of the colloquium, the speaker has called the audience's attention to the need to study more thoroughly affluent cultural exchange through the ocean sea between the ancient Arab and the Korean peninsula.
