Theme: From 'the Research of Asian Sea Ports' to 'New Global History'
Speaker: Haneda Masashi (Director of the Institute of Oriental Culture, University of Tokyo)
The speaker has presented collective research results of "Comparative Studies on the Cultural Exchange in the Sea Ports of the 17-18th Centuries" which had focused on six sea ports in Asia by using the archives of the Dutch East India Company. He also has expressed the possibility of writing a genuine global history through the succeeding research project, "Eurasian Modernity and New Global History".
