Theme : "Transfiguration of Chinese social structure triggered by globalization: in view of infrastructure paradigm"

Speaker : Sasaki Mamoru (Director, Ocean City Research Center, Kobe)

Report : Sasaki Mamoru maintained that the structural mechanism and logic intrinsic to China are revealed in the structural changes of modern China. He noted that these social changes in china have taken place in line with the structural changes triggered by globalization as Saskia Sassen pointed out. He also proposed the "infrastructure paradigm" by presenting the social transfiguration in Qingdao as an example, and tried to prove the validity of the paradigm. Through this case, he underlined the need to take a thorough review of the social changes caused by globalization in China.
