Content | Theme : Problems and Prospect for the Studies of Qingdao, a Sea Port City.
Speaker : Yang Laiqing (Vice-Curator, Qingdao National Archives )
Report : Yang Laiqing, Qingdao National Archives's Vice-Curator, explained how Qingdao though many historical events, became where collided the Chinese and the occidental culture. He remarked also that this historical background changes Qingdao as the port city which has a special urban culture. So he hoped that the Qingdao's modern urban history studies will be more focused on this city's dual and contrastive characteristics(colonial/anti-colonial, conservative/progressive). After, he presented some case studies, classified into two groups, before and after an historical date.(before the establishment of The People's Republic of China/after the establishment of The People's Republic of China). He presented also the historical material about Qingdao in China and the other foreign countries.
