Theme: "Potentials for the Reciprocal Appropriations between the Urban History and the Cultural Interaction Studies of Sea Port Cities"

Speaker: Min, You-Ki (Prof., Kwangwoon University)

Report: Prof. Min explained the necessity of the urban history studies in correspondence with the global changes of 21th century, and introduced the typical western theories of urban history studies and their products and monographs home and abroad. He suggested that the researchers must search to the possiblity of urban studies going beyond the established perspectives, actively carrying out the researches into the colonial cities, the ancient and medieval cities, and the regional cities in East Asia. In addition, he presented that we would look for the potentials for the reciprocal appropriations between the urban history and the our agenda in the cultural interactions of sea port cities, as both a ramification of the modernity and an exchange place with other peoples.
