Prof. Son provides a detailed examination of the process of change from the "Age of Pillage" by Japanese raiders(Waegu) to the "Age of Coexistence and Symbiosis" between late Koryo and Early Chosun period. In his opinion, Sampo, a seaport city in Gyeongsang-do is worthy of notice as the "place of coexistence". Prof. Son shows the way to understand the Chosun's foreign policies as well as Shin Sook Ju's view point of Japan and Asia through《On Nations of the East Seas》(Hai-dong Je-guk-gi).
