Theme: The Outlaw of the East Asian Seas - the Songpho-dang pirates in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries

Speaker: Kim Bo Han

The speaker has focused on the four points relating to the theme. Firstly, he has reviewed the researches trend in 'Waegu'(Japanese pirates) in Korea and Japan. Secondly, he has inquired into the relationship between the rampancy of Waegu in Koryo Dynasty and the Songpho-dang pirates. Thirdly, prof. Kim has asserted that the raging and extinction of Waegu had been closely interrelated with the development of autonomy of the Songpho-dang. Lastly, the speaker has emphasized the necessity of the further and deeper research on the bases of Waegu.
