"Marine Humanities : Problem Solving Humanities "
The Humanities Korea Plus Project (HK+) of Institute for International Maritime Affairs seeks interdisciplinary and cross-cultural studies of marine and human-related disciplines and finds solutions to the issues surrounding relationship between the sea and humans.
'Study on Cultural Interaction of Sea Port City' conducted by Institute of International Maritime Affairs for 10 years from 2008 to 2018, assumes that the sea created by the network between the sea port city and the other sea port city, and the earth formed by these sea areas are the world view. And that have proposed a 'Methodological Sea Port City' as an alternative to 'Methodological Nationalism' where the nation state is the basic analysis unit.
'Sea Humanities: Problem Solving Humanities' is an intensification and development of the results of 'Study on Cultural Interaction of Sea Port City'. It is a problem-solving humanities that presents solutions to the issues that arise in the relationship between sea and human by humanistic viewpoints and methods. To understand the crisis and problems of human and marine communities formed around ocean and sea today through a long - term search is a complex and practical process to predict the possibility of a sustainable human society. Therefore, it is demanded in the era of humanities to search for practical and viable alternatives in the interactions with neighboring scholars based on humanistic reflection on the many pending issues related to the sea.
'Sea Humanities: Problem Solving Humanities' are responding to such requests
- Based on a total of two-phase, seven-year, annual and annual plans
- Selected topics of leading research that lead the diverse researches at the academic level and problem-solving themes that seek practical solutions
of the issues arising from the relationship between human and the sea
- As a method of maritime research based on maritime cities and a method of longitudinal and horizontal comparison studies
We want to derive a mixed academic and practical problem solving performance.
